It's cheaper to book hotels directly. Hotel managers are happy to cut out Expedia and off you a win-win price that is better for you and them.

I had a similar experience. Throw any logic or common sense out.

Expedia seem petty and use the smallest technical excuse to avoid their responsibility so they can charge you and not provide the full service. They ignore the details they don't want to hear, and parrot the petty technical issues they claim suggest that "you didn't ask for that". We booked an all inclusive trip to Mexico (three adult couples who each paid the posted double-occupancy rate), but neglected to select the number of rooms online. Expedia therefore did not give us three rooms (we called to correct this immediately and Expedia claimed that it was ok and we had our own rooms).

When we arrived in Mexico the hotel had no idea about this... We were expected to share two rooms. I ended up paying an extra $1000 so my wife and I could have our own room. I thought double-occupancy meant "two per room", and we made that clear when we called.

Expedia's excuse...

"We never said three". Biggest weasel move I've ever seen.

Expedia Refuses Credit/Re-fund a Trip

We booked a $4,281.47 all-inclusive vacation to Antigua through Expedia from 2/9/16-2/16/16. We were informed by Expedia in the early hours of 2/9 that our flight out from JFK Airport later that day was cancelled due to a snowstorm. We were told that there would be no flights available to Antigua until February 13th-14th - more than halfway into our booked vacation. The Expedia agent explained that she would take care of everything. Her advice was to cancel the trip to Antigua and rebook, through Expedia, another $4,000 vacation to Cancun for February 12. Unfortunately, Expedia charged for both trips and would NOT REFUND the cost of the original trip on the basis that we cancelled the trip. We re now out $4,281.47. Booked 2 trips on Expedia only to see that they offered the Exact Same Trip for $355 less a month later. I called customer service just to be put on hold for 2 hours, called Stage 2 & 3 Customer Service, they just go through the motions so you think they care. But in the end that will Never do anything to help you, Shop Anywhere Else.... Do Not Book With Expedia or Any One Of The 10 Companies Thay Own... They Just Don’t Care About You.....

I bought a vacation package from Expedia.com and a Vacation Waiver just in case (5 months for the trip) I canceled the trip due to my mother been 87 years old and is not feeling well and instead of getting my money back, they are giving me a VOUCHER minus $400.00 which is insane not only because I’m one of their most loyal customer since they got their website, but because I also purchased an insurance to cancel anytime for a full refund. they are giving me the runaround, I spent over four hours with them, just put me on hold while they knew they are the only ones able to refund my money. I called Delta corporate office and they are saying since is a Travel Agent Ticket, the delta cannot do anything only Expedia. They told me to call Delta Airlines Corporate to get a refund and Delta told me that they are using me as a fool, due to that they know that the tickets are Expedia whom can give me my money back Travel Agent Tickets and besides, I paid for a Vacation Waiver, I lost over 9 hours with these people on the phone, they put me on hold for hours and they keep saying somebody else will give me my MONEY not a VOUCHER with $400.00 penalty.
