Do Not Buy Expedia Travel Insurance

My family of 6 booked a package through Expedia to Florida. I took the travel insurance as my father has terminal cancer and I wanted to be able to come home if he took a turn for the worse. Well, that is exactly what happened so I called Expedia to redeem my insurance vouchers. The answer that I received is that I would have to buy 6 more tickets to get home and then file a claim! This would cost me $2000 and I would expect to only have approximately $700 of it covered! WHAT? Apparently that was not mentioned when they were taking $300 out of my account for this insurance. Well I called Delta directly and they were awesome! They sent all 6 of us home for only $55! Now that is customer service! Never again will I buy insurance from Exedia and probably never give Expedia another dime of my money!

Ran charge on card when told absolutely not to.

Was booking a hotel reservation; after I gave cc info they quoted a total to be charged for my whole trip rather than the deposit. I realized I was not speaking to hotel reservations and told them absolutely not to put the charge through and I did not wish to proceed. I got off the phone, checked my account and they took the money anyway. I called the, back to ask them why, and had to actually cancel the booking when they were never authorized to charge my card. I went back n forth w them and could not get them to refund my money. I was out 2200 for over ten days before i could get this credited back by my bank. NEVER EVER USE EXPEDIA

Screwed by Expedia poor customer service

My family and I went on a trip that will be reimbursed by my future employer. we booked airfare and car rental combo in Expedia and printed out itinerary only. After our trip, when we submitted itinerary as a receipt and realized that what we really needed was a receipt so the nightmare began. You would think that such a reputable company saves all of your recent travel history and can easily send you the receipt. Nope, the online account did not have an official receipt button as what Orbitz has. So we called customer service. The first representative kept saying your itinerary is all you have blah blah. We asked to speak to the supervisor who sent us an email with a few lines indicating the amount we paid. I called another supervisor who said bluntly that there is nothing else she can do. She was helpless. In the end I was so frustrated and had to hung up on her. Because the air company and car rental company do not have the detailed billing information so they can not give me any receipt. So my only hope was on Expedia. Though she told me that I should have printed out receipt when I booked flight. That fault was on me but how hard it is to resend a receipt to your customer!! Hello, this is 21st century! Expedia, I would never use you again! So be careful if you are going to book through them!

The customer service manager

Expedia.com

Dear sir/Madame,

I wright to lodge a complaint about very disappointing service received from your organization recently resulting in my having to spend $650.00 at this time that I most definitely did not want to spend. In the course of incurring this extra cost, I called Expedia 4 times on July 2nd 2013, Was left in limbo on hold once, disconnected while being transferred to a supervisor and had to spend large chunks of time repeating the same info over and over again. The issue is that I had booked a business trip to Panama using American Airlines via Miami. Some time later I found a Copa flight with no stops which was far more convenient, I called in and was told that I could use the credit on a future flight and also get refunded the change fee thru my insurance, an adjustment of one less night was made to my hotel booking in a smooth transaction by Expedia staff. On July 2nd, I attempted to book my other trip, to Cabo San Lucas in August cancel my American Airlines flight to Panama and to apply my credit to my Cabo trip. This experience turned out to be frustrating and Expedia was incapable of assisting me with this simple transaction. The flights on American Airlines that I had researched on Expedia myself could not be found by your agents with whom I spoke, they were trying to tell me that I had to fly thru Miami and Los Angeles arriving 3 hours after the ones that I found going thru Miami and Dallas. After being told incorrect info by the first agent, being put on hold and forgotten by the second, starting over once more with the third who came on the line while I was on never ending hold but still not being able to be helped by her. Then I called back and was told by the 4th agent that she could now see the route that I was telling her about but that she could not complete the transaction and she would transfer me to a supervisor to complete the booking/application of the credit, I was then promptly cut off during the call transfer. By then I was completely frustrated and fed up with the bumbling and stumbling of your staff so I went to Expedia.com and booked the flight that I wanted with a click of a button that your staff could not assist me with, the catch being that I could not use my credit and therefore had to spend more money to get what I wanted. To make matters worse, I rarely use American Airlines and this period is unusual in my normal pattern of overseas travel, therefore the assurance that I can use the credit for up to a year is of no use to me and this is in addition to the fact that after the frustrating experience with your company, I am absolutely not looking forward to having to call them back to try to access the credit in the future. I am therefore asking that you apply the credit to my Expedia account so that I can apply it to my next trip/hotel/rental car from your company. In addition, I am requesting that you also refund the phone charges incurred.

Expedia has sent irrelevant, generic answered to this complaint, and has not acknowledged that they gave poor service to a paying customer causing them to waste time and spend money unnecessarily. I am appalled by the lack of customer attention, the second response was not even in proper English. If I cannot get this resolved then I know what will happen if I have another issue and therefore will have to try another service.

Poor customer services provided by Expedia

I seek for help from Expedia for re-booking of my flight. Expedia travel agents were giving me promises to call me back but never keep their promises. I had been calling them more than 10 times today but did not solve my problem at all! Secondly, Expedia travel agent was trying to make the flight decision for me and telling me lies that I have made the flight decides but actually I did not! The most importantly, they charged for extra RM 800. I am totally not happy with this travel agency. Please do not believe this travel agency to you. I have completely lost my trust on this agency! I think they have provided me with the LOUSIEST services ever in my life! I will definitely not using this agency in the future anymore and I will not recommend it to any of my friends and family.

Customer service sucks

I booked two return flights to the USA using Expedia. Then last week I was diagnosed with a very serious illness which will necessitate major surgery. The doctor told me to cancel my holiday as the surgery and the follow up treatment would take between 18 – 24 months and there was no way I would be fit to travel. Since then, my husband has been constantly on the phone to Expedia to have the flights cancelled. Each time he phones (using a cell phone which is very costly) he is put on hold while the agent “makes enquiries.” Twice, the agents have either hung up or have been cut off. I have sent an email and a copy of a letter from the hospital to Expedia but all to no avail – not even an acknowledgment. One would think that they would show a little compassion towards a 68 year old person who is seriously ill. In addition to the stress caused by my medical condition, I now have the additional expense of medical treatment and I am at the loss of €1,364.18.

Expedia Sucks!

Absolutely horrible experience with the call center. This was the first time I have used expedia and will never use it again. I will also spread the word to everyone I know not to use them. I called the 800 # to make a reservation for Dayton TX, the rep said she had found me a 2 rooms available so I booked them….for Dayton TX. I get to the hotel and they don’t have a reservation for me….the expedia rep made the reservation in Dayton TN…12 hour and 900 miles difference. They are now telling it’s at the discretion of the hotel if I get refunded…excuse me! The hotel didn’t book a room in the wrong state, expedia did! If you are going to have a call center in India at least make sure they know the difference between states they are booking….Expedia is trying to say this was not their fault and I wont me refunded because I didn’t show up to the hotel they booked….no kidding 12 hours away! Horrible Horrible Horrible customer service!

Made promises that we never got

Expedia agent promised complimentary transportation to and from the airport from our hotel but was not noted on the itinerary. There were 6 people booked altogether and we were promised free transportation. On the first call back, we were placed on eternal hold. Second call, we were promised that a supervisor will call us back. A supervisor finally did call us back but they stated that they cannot provide complimentary transportation but it can be added for 40.00 a person. Never using expedia again. Never,Never, Never,Never, Never,Never, Never,Never, Never,Never, Never,Never, Never,Never, Never,Never, Never,Never, Never,Never, Never,Never, Never,Never Never,Never Never,Never, Never,Never Never.....

EXPEDIA SUCKS

I am attorney attempting to help a fried with a flight credit that Expedia will not honor. I have been on the phone with them for 5 hours, yes, F-I-V-E HOURS!! I have been forced to re-tell the story time after time after time because every person says they are "transferring me to someone who can help" or "a supervisor", but they either immediately hang up on you or put on hold - one time for up to an hour by the clock! - and then the call is mysteriously disconnected. Totally, totally unacceptable customer service! I have frequently used Expedia in the past, but NEVER AGAIN!

Expedia agents are idiots and cost me money

I called to book a hotel in California for 2 nights. Nothing expensive just a place to sleep. The agent kept saying $51, I kept saying per night, Right? This went on for 15 minutes before he admitted it was for only one night. After talking to a supervisor he came back and said $102.00. So I payed. He said he would email itinerary. 5 days later I get my Itinerary and it says 1 night. I called to cancel and they informed me that they could refund the one night at $51 but the other reservation was for the night I called in and I was a "no show". I never received the Itinerary for that night not to mention I live in Colorado and the reservation was in California. This is the second time I have had problems with Expedia!!

Another example of a consumer who is motivated only by price and is either unwilling or unable to understand the terms of a contract before entering into it. To these sorts of people, the adage is true.. you get what you pay for.

"Flight Insurance" is a ripoff

Booked an Expedia flight, you know while you're doing it that if you don't complete it you'll time out. Clicked flight insurance, didn't read fine print. Had to change, my son's graduation/recital date was moved. Turns out $50 in flight insurance only covers death of a loved one, that's all. Think about it, $50 on a $500 flight should cover much more. I know, I didn't read fine print, but you're pushed to complete and at those rates you'd think it would cover more. So I had to pay another $150 for the changed date. They should either remove the flight insurance "deal" or make it more obvious what it does not cover.

Run around

On 4-21-13, my wife tried to book a hotel through Expedia. After she gave the debit card info, email address, and phone number, she realized she was not dealing with the hotel itself, rather, going through Expedia. At this time she told the woman on the phone, whom was hard to understand to begin with, that she wished to cancel the reservation proceedings. Once she said this, she was immediately hung up on. She called back in an effort to confirm that the transaction was not processed, since they had all our debit information. She was again hung up on. I then called and asked to speak to a supervisor. I was given the run around to the point where I was on hold for 40 minutes, then the phone hung up. I called again. The person on the phone was trying everything in her power to avoid putting a supervisor on the phone. I refused to answer any of her questions, since this had already been done 3 times. She finally put me on hold for 25 minutes and the line again went dead. I called about 2 more times with the same result. They tried to direct me to another customer service number. I refused, stating that the number we originally called was that one and that is the supervisor I wished to speak to. Initially she stated that there was no immediate supervisor present, then she stated that the supervisor was refusing to assist me in the matter as they had no access to account informatiom. Really? How would have processed our transaction then? Ultimately a manager named Gilbert got on and as I was explaining my experience, the connection began to break up. He would come and say "Hello! Hello!" The phone again went dead. I am surprised at the low level of customer care I received. It was obvious that their method of dealing with unsatisfied customers that request to speak to a supervisor, is just to give them the ultimate run-around. I am shocked at this as Expedia is pretty reputable and I'm sure that there is company policy in place that dictates how this process is to be handled. I'm sure it's not the way my situation was. I am a police supervisor and I know for a fact that when a citizen comes in and asks to speak to a supervisor, a supervisor is who they immediately speak to. One would think I was trying to speak to the Pope. That probably would have been easier to do. I will never use Expedia and hope that those of you who do, never have to call them for assistance. If so be prepared to be given the run-around.

Ripped Off

After 10 years of using Expedia suddenly they are not allowing me to make any changes in a round trip flight to Asia. You expect to pay cancellation or rescheduling fees. Today, however it was simply "no changes of any kind". I have to rearrange my departure date by 7 days due to a work related crisis. Expedia blamed Air Canada. Air Canada was very nice and clearly identified Expedia's policy. Expedia also said if I booked a one way flight for the first leg they would cancel my round trip ticket.I recommend that you do not use Expedia. Ever!!!

Unpublished Rates

Just booked 2 rooms for 3 nights with unpublished rates on Expedia for Walla Walla, we were 'guaranteed' a pool & other chosen amenities... the hotel has a pool, but it has been closed for years with no plan of reopening. Expedia said they had no responsibility to stand behind their 'guarantees'. Not worth saving a little money & terrible customer service. If a business offers you certain amenities, they should stand behind them. This is the 2nd time I've been disappointed by Expedia & the last. It's sad when a company becomes too large to care about their customers.
