MY MOTHER BOOKED A TRIP LAST YEAR. THREE MONTHS AFTER BOOKING THE TRIP SHE WAS ADMITTED TO HOSPITAL, WHICH TURNED OUT TO BE A LIFE THREATENING ILLNESS. HER TRIP HAD TO BE CANCELLED AS IT WOULD HAVE BEEN ONE WEEK AFTER BEING RELEASED FROM HOSPITAL. HOSPITAL STAFF WOULD NOT ALLOW HER TO TRAVEL UNDER HER HEALTH CONDITION. HER TRIP HAD TO BE CANCELLED WITH THE INSURANCE PURCHASED AT THE TIME OF BOOKING WITH EXPEDIA. THAT WAS A YEAR AGO AND WE HAVE BEEN FIGHTING WITH THE INSURANCE COMPANY EVER SINCE TRYING TO GET HER REFUND. THEY ARE USING THEIR "PRE-EXISTING MEDICAL" CLAUSE TO GET OUT OF PAYING HER THE REFUND THEY OWE HER. THERE IS NO "PRE-EXISTING CONDITION", AND I HAVE HEARD THIS IS THE MOST POPULAR LINE WITH INSURANCE COMPANIES. THEY HAVE NURSES ON STAFF WHO READ THROUGH THE MEDICAL INFORMATION, AND THOSE NURSES MAKE THE FINAL DECISION ON WHO GETS A REFUND AND WHO DOESN'T, MOST LIKELY WON'T GET REFUNDS. TO MAKE MATTERS WORSE, THEY DIDN'T EVEN REQUEST THE MEDICAL RECORDS FROM THE HOSPITAL WHO DISCOVERED HER CONDITION AND PERFORMED THE PROCEDURE ON HER. I NEVER THOUGHT INSURANCE COMPANIES COULD BE SO BIASED BUT I GUESS THEY ARE IN THE MONEY MAKING INDUSTRY. I AM NOT FINISHED WITH THIS INSURANCE COMPANY, I WILL APPEAL YET AGAIN, AND IN THE MEAN TIME I WILL WARN PEOPLE NOT TO USE THE INSURANCE COMPANY THAT EXPEDIA OFFERS ONLINE WHEN BOOKING A FLIGHT, IF YOU EVER NEED THEIR HELP, YOU WON'T GET IT.
