I do all the travel arrangements for my company. I used to use Expedia. I arranged travel for 3 owners and a salesman using their personal credit cards through Expedia. No tickets and they were stuck at the airport for HOURS - but Expedia DID remember to charge their credit cards. We're still trying to recoup. In addition, I had to rebook, huge extra fees for last minute bookings, plus layovers since it was afternoon before I got word they had no tickets. Punitive damages should be more than we paid originally! How can they continue to do this to us?

Brian works for Expedia. Piss off Brian. People should book through the airlines directly. You get the same price and no scams.

When choosing to book through any online travel service, you should always print confirmation numbers, itineraries and, if possible, print the actual etickets yourself. You should also call the airline and verify the flight number and date to ensure the tickets have, in fact, been booked under the right names and the correct flight. This should happen within a day (or less) of the booking. You should also not book one day before the flight with services like Expedia as they may not be able to reserve the seat on the flight.

In other words, just make sure to do your due diligence and follow up the bookings directly with the airline. If you follow these steps, you can avoid such costly mistakes.
